Sony's sophomore XR-65X95L Mini LED effort turns out to be an impressive improvement over its already illustrious predecessor.
Mini LED lighting and improved local dimming deliver outstanding contrast ; Refined, well balanced but also vibrant colours ; Accurately positioned and detailed sound
The sound is a bit bass-lite ; Only two of the HDMIs support the latest game features ; No Dolby Vision game mode

The Sony Bravia X95L mini-LED TV is the best LCD TV I've ever reviewed. But that doesn't mean you should buy it. Read on to see if it's worth the price.
Brilliant contrast Excellent color accuracy Smooth motion Minimal blooming and halo Excellent gaming features/picture quality
Quirks with picture quality with some streaming apps
“The Sony Bravia X95L mini-LED TV is the best LCD TV I've ever reviewed -- but it may not be right for everyone.”

A mini-LED masterpiece that feels like the shape of things to come
Excellent backlight control ; Outstanding picture processing ; Impressive built-in sound system
Up against some keenly priced competition ; Not as bright as some rivals ; Some gaming limitations
Sony’s second generation of mini-LED TV – the X95L – fixes pretty much everything that wasn’t quite there with the first, resulting in a real showstopper of a TV that proves beyond a doubt that Sony continues to care about LCD at least as much as OLED.

Sony's top-of-the-range Mini LED set shows considerable control to deliver sublime pictures
Composed, stable images ; Potent contrasts and convincing colours ; Predictably good standard of build and finish
Sound is on the thin side ; Only two HDMI 2.1 inputs ; No Dolby Vision gaming
Sony’s first Mini LED TVs weren't all that bad - but this latest generation is a decisive step forwards. In all sorts of ways (and especially where contrasts are concerned), the X95L is an impressive television and really compelling for the money.

Sony's second generation of Mini LED TV proves the LCD vs OLED battle is far from over.
Spectacular but still subtle picture quality ; Excellent video processing ; Powerful, detailed sound
Some tedious gaming limitations ; Occasional backlight issues ; Vivid mode is crazy
The X95L more than lives up to the promise shown by Sony’s debut mini LED TVs last year. In fact, by combining the beautiful colours, detailing, subtlety, outstanding video processing and knack for naturalism of those predecessors with more brightness...

"mini-er LED, brighter-er picture" - the Sony XR-65X95L is phenomenally film-friendly, if not the last word where gaming is concerned
Bright, high-contrast and nicely composed images ; Comprehensive and logical smart TV interface ; Built and finished without apparent compromise
Sound is rather toppy ; Still not the complete gaming solution ; Deeper and heavier than is fashionable
Bigger, brighter, better (and heavier) than before, Sony’s new MiniLED range is a winner

Sony is capable of crafting some exquisite TVs, but they tend to have OLED displays. The XR-65X95L is a backlit LCD TV, but that backlight is a bit special. It's Mini LED, which means there's more bulbs in the backlight to, ideally, create better,...
