Nikon appear to be in the middle of revamping their line of professional quality lenses at present, and I would imagine this focal range will be high on their list.

Image quality, build and price. Half the price of the 70-200 and just as good images with better build and less plastic. This lens will last you a life time.

Weight with it being so well built. Auto zoom is a little noisy but fast.

very pleased with images using this lens, easy to handle hand held. image stabilization fantastic as tested hand held in 50 knot winds. aircraft photos still returned sharp images in the 50 knot winds.
