Magnetron Defective
I have had the same problem as other write ups listed here. We purchased our unit in August 2005. It is not used heavily, just my wife and I. It looks like it lasted 2 years and 6 months. Then, the magnetron blew along with a fuse. I called GE and was ...
There are no PROS on this unit. It looks good! Doesn't work, but looks good!

Don't spend $250 on a new one, GE may replace for $100
My condo came with a JVM1640. Last year, when the microwave was a few years old, it started making bad noises and recently quit heating. It's a common story, several people in the neighboring units have had the same thing happen. Pretty much everyone ...
When it worked it met my expectations. GE warranty actually exceeded my expectations.
Not very reliable, I'd search for something better if I wasn't getting an inexpensive replacement.

When it works, it works well
