Altec Lansing AHP612 Review

Getting past the price, the overall design and functionality of this product is mixed.

Altec Lansing A3 Custom Triple Driver Earphone

The Altec Lansing A3 Custom Triple Driver Earphone is a superb, soft-silicon custom molded pair that is worth the super-high price, but it's not without some minor drawbacks.

Excellent audio performance at moderate to loud volumes. Soft silicon won't crack or break when dropped, unlike most custom-molded pairs. Superb comfort and fit. Attractive leather carrying case with cleaning tool.

Extremely expensive. Cable lacks stiff portions to keep looped over top of ear. Cable is not detachable. Distortion occurs at top volumes on deep bass tracks—but top volumes are extremely loud and almost painful to endure, so this isn't a major issue.

Conclusions Have I heard better custom in-ear monitors before? Yes. I enjoyed the performance of the JH Audio JH16 Pro more than just about any in-canal pair I've ever heard—but it'll run you another $150. Sitting squarely at $1,000, the A3's soft...

Altec Lansing A1 Custom Single Driver Earphone

Despite some minor distortion at extreme volumes, the Altec Lansing A1 Custom Single Driver Earphone delivers excellent, accurate response in a comfortable custom-molded design.

Crisp high frequency response with excellent definition. Accurate, unboosted bass response. More comfortable than typical custom models thanks to medical-grade soft silicone. Significant passive noise isolation.

Minor distortion at top volumes on tracks with deep bass. Earpieces are small enough that they can be difficult to put in quickly. Silicone earpieces tend to pick up dust and lint easily.

Altec Lansing Backbeat Titanium review

Altec Lansing is a long-standing competitor in the iPod speaker market, so it makes sense that the company now produces a variety of headphones, as well. It currently makes three sets of BackBeat earphones: the Titanium 326, Plus 206 , and Classic 106....

The Altec Lansing BackBeat Titanium 326 earphones offer a comfortable fit and excellent sound for the money. The cloth-covered cord seems durable and a carrying case is included.

When the BackBeat Titanium 326 cord rubs against your clothing, you may be able to hear it if your MP3 player is set to low volumes or if it's during the silence between songs.

About $40, the Altec Lansing BackBeat Titanium 326 earbuds offer impressive sound for the buck.

Altec Lansing BackBeat

The Altec Lansing BackBeat's comfortable fit and long battery life can keep up with a marathon routine; just don't expect stellar sound quality.

Comfortable fit. Long battery life. Music doesn't sound muddy.

Music sounds overly bright. Voice call quality isn't great, especially outdoors.

Altec Lansing inMotion IM616

These are very accurate-sounding noise-isolating earphones, but if you're into thumping bass, you may want to look elsewhere.

Very accurate sound. Good noise isolation. Very light weight.

Not particularly comfortable for extended periods. The bulky carrying case is just silly.

Altec Lansing inMotion IM716

These noise-isolating earphones are accurate enough for studio reference and versatile enough for casual listening, though you'll need a fairly powerful audio player to drive them.

Very accurate sound on HD setting. Bass setting adds versatility. In-line volume control. Good noise isolation.

Low overall output. Not particularly comfortable for extended periods. The bulky carrying case is just silly.

Altec Lansing UHP106 Backbeat review

Altec Lansing is a long-standing competitor in the iPod speaker market, so it makes sense that the company now produces a variety of headphones, as well. It currently makes three sets of BackBeat earphones: the Titanium 326, the Plus 206, and the...

Comfortable fit; solid sound for the money; tangle-resistant shoelace style cord is a plus.

When the cloth cord rubs against your clothing, you can sometimes hear it; they don't fit as well as step-up BackBeat earphones; a little light on the bass.

Altec Lansing's BackBeat Plus 106 earbuds may not deliver as much bass as their step-up siblings, but they're a good value at $20.

Altec Lansing Backbeat (Black/Gold) review

Altec Lansing is a long-standing competitor in the iPod speaker market, so it makes sense that the company now produces a variety of headphones, as well. It currently makes three sets of BackBeat earphones: the Titanium 326 , Plus 206, and Classic 106....

The Altec Lansing BackBeat Plus 206 earphones offer a comfortable fit; impressive sound for the money; and a durable, cloth-covered cord.

When the BackBeat Plus 206's cloth cord rubs against your clothing, you can sometimes hear that rubbing sound if your MP3 player is set to low volumes or during the silence between songs; no carrying case is included.

Although Altec Lansing's BackBeat Plus 206 earbuds may be a slight step down from the BackBeat 326 earphones, they offer very good sound for the money.
