Sony Bloggie MHS-PM1 camcorder - Pocket-lint

Teenagers and the young at heart will love the convenience of the frill free PM1, and if they have to fork out for it themselves, the price. Grown ups

Swivelling lens compartment helps this one stand out from the crowd, inexpensive option for those wanting a portable yet solidly built HD recording device

Screen is small and poky, no HDMI connectivity, built-in microphone picks up operational noise and user adjustments, impossible to smoothly and seamlessly adjust angle of view of top-mounted lens compartment once filming has commenced

Users are more likely to get a naturalistic performance from their subjects (particularly the smaller members of the family) if approaching them with a camcorder with a diminutive form factor such as this - arguably less intimidating than a "proper"...

Sony Webbie HD MHS-PM1 pocket camcorder

The first pocket camcorder with 1080p video recording

Lots of advanced features, 1080p recording, good image quality for asking price

Cheap plastic finish, no integrated USB connector, video performance trumped by Flip Mino HD

For a pocket camcorder, the Sony Webbie MHS-PM1 is loaded with features and produces decent video quality. That said, there are several products on the market that offer superior results.

Sony MHS-PM1 review

Sony's lifejacket-orange pocket camcorder certainly catches the eye. But will its video performance grab your attention?

A snappy dresser, but sadly the footage the PM1 captures isn’t nearly as sharp as its livery

Sony MHS-PM1 review

Great for shooting video of yourself, but we prefer the simplicity of Flip's UltraHD.

Sony MHS-PM1 Webbie HD Camera

Not just a me-too device, Sony's first affordable pocket camcorder boasts an innovative swivel lens and shoots 1080i video.

Swivel lens allows for a wide array of shooting angles ; Fun, lightweight design with three color options ; Sharp 1440 x 1080 video

Jerky zoom ; Blurry still photos ; Lacks flip-out USB connector or HDMI output ; No editing tools software

We’ve been eagerly awaiting Sony’s first sub-’00 pocket camcorder, and the We’ve been eagerly awaiting Sony’s first sub-$200 pocket camcorder, and the $169 MHS-PM1 Webbie HD sets itself apart from the competition with a higher resolution (1440 x 1080...

Sony Webbie HD MHS-PM1 review

The Sony Webbie HD MHS-PM1 looks like a toy, but don't let its basic looks and controls fool you: the Webbie has the most well-rounded feature set we've seen.

The versatile Sony Webbie HD MHS-PM1 camcorder is a good looker and provides plenty of control over your footage. It stands head and shoulders above the rest of the competition here.

Sony Webbie HD MHS-PM1 review:

Sony's first entry in the minicamcorder arena was 2007's NSC-GC1 Net-sharing Cam. That model didn't fare too well in our review , but Sony seems to have learned from that experience as evidenced by its new line of YouTube-friendly budget camcorders,...

Attractive design; captures video at 720p and 1080p "HD" resolution; memory-card expansion slot; swiveling lens; component video cables; rechargeable lithium ion battery.

Price doesn't include an optional memory card (onboard memory is limited to 12MB for capturing video); rechargeable battery doesn't recharge via USB connector; no integrated USB connector; no protective carrying case included.

The MHS-PM1 Webbie HD represents a step forward for Sony in the minicamcorder arena--but some quirks and only OK video quality prevent it from being compelling enough to best the competition.

Sony Webbie MHS-PM1

As you may have noticed, high-definition pocket camcorders are growing up fast. Pure Digital's popular Flip line of camcorders (which includes the standard-definition Flip Mino and the high-def Flip MinoHD) has scored well in the market, so it isn't...

Five shooting modes and three resolution settings ; Swiveling lens and fashionable looks

No integrated USB connector ; Must remove battery to charge it

The flashy, well-priced Sony Webbie HD MHS-PM1 doesn't deliver outstanding video quality, but it does offer great features and versatility for a high-def pocket camcorder.

Sony Webbie HD MHS-PM1 Camcorder Review

The MHS-PM1 ($169.99 MSRP) and MHS-CM1 are the two members of Sony's Webbie HD line of camcorders. While the MHS-CM1 has the traditional horizontal layout of a consumer camcorder, the MHS-PM1 offers an upright design that strongly resembles the popular...

As far as ultra-compact budget camcorders go, the MHS-PM1 ($169.99 MSRP) has a few big features that help set it apart from the rest of the crowd. Its rotatable lens design is an excellent innovation, as it allows for easy access to self-shooting and...
