Hitachi DZ-HS300A Review

Even with all the flaws, I have to give Hitachi some praise for designing this hybrid.

Hitachi DZHS300A

Whether you'd like to record video to a hard drive or a DVD, the Hitachi DZHS300A has you covered.

Two formats for recording video. Decent video quality and performance.

Confusing menus and functions. Unintuitive controls. Terrible still capabilities.

Hitachi DZHS300A DVD-HDD 8GB Hybrid Digital Camcorder (25x Opt, 1200x Dig, 2.7

If you can't decide whether a hard drive or DVD camcorder is right for you, consider the hybrid Hitachi DZHS300A ($570 as of April 24, 2007). This camcorder comes with both a Mini DVD drive capable of recording in all the now-standard formats (-R, -RW,...

Records to hard drive and DVD discs ; Supports Mini DVD-RAM

Hitachi DZ-HS300A review

I'll start with the good news. Hitachi's goal of an inexpensive camcorder, combining the long recording times and stability of a hard disk drive with the easy playback and distribution of a DVD, merits attention. Furthermore, from that limited...

One-touch dubbing from hard drive to DVD; supports a wide variety of DVD formats.

Poor video and photo quality; easy to accidentally turn power off and switch modes.

Hitachi had a good idea--put both a hard disk drive and a DVD in a camcorder--but implements it poorly in the DZ-HS300A.

Hitachi DZ-HS300A Camcorder Review

The Hitachi DZ-HS300A ($599 MSRP) is an interesting camcorder, even in a year marked by a veritable flowering of diversity. There are standard definition cams that record to DVD, flash, HDD, and tape in DV and numerous flavors of MPEG-2 and MPEG-4...

Hitachi DZ-HS300A

A Hitachi camcorder captured the hearts and wallets of Japan last year with a unique ability to record video to both DVD and an internal 8 GB hard disk drive (HDD). Hitachi has since sent the concept abroad, arriving at our shores as the Hitachi...

DVD Camcorder Review: Hitachi DZHS300A Hybrid HDD/DVD

Hitachi has a new concept that puts two robust recording formats into one camcorder. The hybrid series has a hard drive disk (HDD) and a DVD recording drive, which gives consumer shooters much more flexibility. The DZHS300A comes with 8GB HDD that can...

Good color reproduction Ease of use Hybrid flexibility

No mic input A few low-light strains

The DZHS300A is a refreshing take on consumer video, offering the best in ease of use, plus the flexibility of a hybrid camcorder.

Hitachi DZ-HS300A

The Hitachi DZ-HS300A comes equipped with a 1/6" CCD with a 680,000 gross pixel count. This is the most common imager size for low-end camcorders, and it's surprising that a model close to $600 would settle for something so low quality. In video mode,...

Hitachi DZHS300A Camcorder

I love digital video cameras. Making and watching movies, especially of the stupid … I mean quirky things my kids do, like that time .. Well, maybe later. Anyway, as much as I like camcorders, I don't use them a whole lot because in many ways they're a...

One thing that did stand out to me was the sound. The camera's microphone is very sensitive, too sensitive in some cases. In one instance shooting in a kitchen, the sound of water running in the sink six feet to the side nearly overpowered the voices...

HITACHI DZ-HS300A 1/6" CCD 2.7" LCD 25X Optical Zoom Hybrid DVD+HDD Camcorder

For the price of this camera - the quality was outstanding - having both DVD, Hard drive AND memory card to record on gives a huge selection of media to use -saw similar version of the camera for $600 retail

the Mini Dvd's are a pain in the rear to use - the format doesnt just pop into a dvd drive or player like i thought
