Microsoft Band 2 review

Curves and sensors in all the right places

Larger, curved screen ; More sensors than before ; Smarter design ; Longer battery life

Nearly smartwatch-level pricing ; Still not waterproof ; Fewer features for Android and iOS

The Microsoft Band 2 is better designed with more functionality than ever, making it one of the fitness trackers to have this year.

Microsoft Band 2 review: Function over form

Microsoft introduced the original Band in October 2014, bringing a device that combined an array of fitness tracking features with a few smartwatch-like functions. Despite being great in terms of functionality, it was heavily criticised for its rigid...

Loads of features, accurate activity tracking, good GPS tracking, compatible with main operating systems (Android, iOS and Windows), good notification alerts, slick interface, app offers useful insights

Uncomfortable to wear, bulky, battery life not great for an activity tracker, heart rate readings sometimes questionable, expensive, feature limitations on Android and iOS, Health app could look better

If taken on its features alone, the Microsoft Band 2 would be the smart band to beat, because it offers more than most of the competition out there.

Microsoft Band 2 review: This health-oriented wearable still faces big hurdles

The Microsoft Band 2 combines a powerful sensor package and superior analytics into an affordably priced smartwatch. But a lack of apps and graphics and an awkward form factor hold it back.

Microsoft Band 2 review

The Microsoft Band 2 is a smartwatch that is really an activity tracker - here's why you'll love it. We review the Microsoft Band 2.

It is very difficult to score the Band 2, because it is such a specific product with a unique feature set. But let's unpack it: it is definitely good value, as the combination of sensors and features is much greater than any comparable product at this...

Microsoft Band 2 review: Powerful life tracker captures massive amount of data

Microsoft improved in the areas where I saw issues with the first Microsoft Band, making the Band 2 the ultimate activity tracker to help you improve your lifestyle.

There are a ton of daily activity trackers, but none with as many sensors as the Microsoft Band 2. You can fully customize the tiles you have on your Band so that you can have it focused on running and workouts, smartwatch notifications, or...

Microsoft Band 2 review

Hypochondriacs of the world, this is the fitness tracker for you

Tracks a lot of stats ; Caters for plenty of sports ; Fits better than the original Band

Struggles with iOS ; Two day battery life ; Smartwatch functionality is limited

An iffy battery life and ropey iOS app hold the Band 2 back from being a top fitness tracker

Microsoft Band 2

The Band 2 is Microsoft's second serious stab at the consumer wearable market. It aims to offer fitness fanatics a cross-platform tracker that will monitor everything from marathon runs to casual golf games.

Great screen ; Easy to setup ; Customisable workouts ; Newly added barometer

Expensive ; Poor iOS and Android app support ; Battery life isn’t great

The Microsoft Band 2 Review

At the end of October in 2014, Microsoft surprisingly released a late night press release about a new device they were launching. It was the Microsoft Band , which is a fitness wearable that was a key component of their Microsoft Health service. It was...

At $249, the Band has gone up in price since the first genration’s $199 price, but the redesigned styling and addition of a barometer likely make it worth it, at least for those not already invested in the ecosystem. It’s in the same ballpark of...

Microsoft Band 2 review

A greatly improved design fixes flaws from Microsoft's first wearable, but quality issues dog the Band 2.

Microsoft Band 2 review: Still flawed, but a step in the right direction

Microsoft's getting a little better at this whole "wearable" thing.

Much-improved design ; Microsoft Health is useful, thoughtful ; Guided workouts are still great ; Third-party app selection is getting better

Battery life is still short ; Interface can be a little obtuse ; GPS can take ages to find you

Microsoft's first fitness tracker was a clunker, but the Band 2 is more refined, with a comfortable design and a thoughtful software platform that has gotten better over time. Even so, there are still some kinks Microsoft needs to work out, and the...
