Academy of Champions: Soccer

Kid-friendly action both on and off the pitch is the main attraction in Academy of Champions: Soccer.

Involving Story mode for kids, with lots of challenges and minigames ; Colorful, cartoonish visuals ; Simple-but-satisfying arcade soccer ; Solid roster of wacky guest stars from other Ubisoft franchises

A little childish for older players ; A bit lacking in the multiplayer department

Academy of Champions: Soccer

Kombo's Review Policy: Our reviews are written for you. Our goal is to write honest, to-the-point reviews that don't waste your time. This is why we've split our reviews into four sections: What the Game's About, What's Hot, What's Not and Final Word,...

Not much, to be completely honest. Though, I must preface the rest of this review by making it clear that this is meant to be a kid's game. As such, I'm afraid I hold a slight bias against the game's over simplified nature. Regardless, I shall do my...

While the game's premise may not sound all that bad, Ubisoft's inability to execute on these ideas has left much to be desired. The campaign is unfortunately rather shallow. Recruiting players is actually more of a chore than fun. Simply clicking...

Academy of Champions

One of soccer's most well known ambassadors is Pele. Every fan worth their salt at least knows of him. The man was an absolute legend and continues to try to grow the sport around the world. It's no surprise that he would put his name and face on a...

Fun Arcade Soccer ; Simple Controls ; Wonderful Arenas to play in ; Ubisoft Cameos

Very few Mini-games ; Repetitive Story Mode ; Too much focus on everything but the actual playing of the sport

The repetition in the story mode really prevents this from being more than an average title. Had there either been more variety in the mini-games or a greater emphasis on actual games of soccer, this would have been a completely different experience....

Academy of Champions Soccer

It's not going to set the world on fire, but at its budget price, it's a good stocking stuffer choice for the little futbol fanatic in your family.

Academy of Champions Soccer is a cute $30 package that doesn't seek to redefine the world of casual sports games, but which is a perfectly sufficient distraction in the hands of the right individual. And, by all accounts, that individual is most likely...

Academy of Champions: Soccer Review

Academy of Champions: Soccer kicks off a new franchise for Ubisoft in a nice way

A decent little game aimed for younger players. It has style and looks good. There are some minor issues but nothing that is overwhelming.

Review: Academy of Champions Soccer (Nintendo Wii)

Being born and bred in North America makes being a football fan no different for me than it is for anyone in a more traditional football market like… well, like everywhere else in the world except North America: I'm a bit of a football elitist. You can...

While it’s not tight enough to please everyone, Academy of Champions Soccer is a good enough game of football to please it's target audience – children – and has enough going on elsewhere to keep them attracted for a long time. There are flaws, but not...

Academy of Champions: Soccer

The Wii, by its very nature, is designed for families and children. While some games offer the "hardcore" experience, others seem too thrown together to be worth any type of game time. Because of this, Wii games that may actually be enjoyed by a lot of...

A fun, simple soccer game designed for players of ages. As a game, it doesn't hold a lot of substance, but kids and parents alike will revel in this fast-paced soccer showdown. If you've got little soccer nuts at home, you can't go wrong.

Academy of Champions: Soccer

It's like Hogwarts but with soccer instead of quidditch.

Academy of Champions: Soccer is a simple game meant for simple gamers. No, I’m not calling you stupid for liking Academy of Champions, but the gameplay experience is certainly tuned for someone looking for arcade-style soccer. My biggest issue, and...

Academy of Champions: Soccer Review (Wii)

Two recent sports games fall into the budget category, but they have decidedly different approaches in the way they function, look and treat kids. These games are Backyard Football 10 and Academy of Champions: Soccer

Great game for kids. Deep career mode. Fun multiplayer

Pretty basic gameplay. Can get repetitive. AI issues
