Bose QC 30 review

In-ear noise cancelling as good as any from over-ear cans

Excellent, variable, noise cancellation ; Comfortable earbuds that stay put ; Long-lasting battery

Sound isn’t great for this price point ; Neckband will be divisive

If you want a pair of wireless in-ear headphones with great battery life and excellent noise cancellation, the Bose QC30s might be exactly what you’re looking for. It’s just unfortunate that they’re not the best-sounding headphones around. Life is full...

Bose QuietControl 30 review

Impressive noise-cancelling and excellent sound quality make the Bose QC30s the real deal...

Insightful sound ; Spacious ; Impressive noise cancellation ; Punchy bass

The neckband isn’t to everyone’s tastes

By blocking outside noise, you can focus on the QC30s’ great sound

Bose QuietControl 30 review: Great sound but uncomfortable to wear

Superlative noise cancellation and good sound quality, but there's too much wrong with the design of the Bose QuietControl 30

Great noise cancelling ; Good sound quality ; Compact and lightweight

Uncomfortable, awkward design ; Mediocre battery life

Ultimately, for £230 I expect better. Impressive though they are from a noise-cancelling perspective, there’s too much wrong with the QuietControl 30 for a wholehearted recommendation.

Bose QuietControl 30

As alluded to by their name, Bose's QuietControl 30 headphones are the company's first active noise-cancelling headphones that give you granular control over the level of noise blocking. This means that, unlike with Bose's other ANC headphones, such as...

Bose QuietControl 30 review

Think of Bose's QuietControl 30 ($300, £230 or AU$449) as the ultimate neckband-style Bluetooth headphone. (That's the style that looks like a horseshoe draped around the back of a person's neck, which LG pioneered with its top-selling Tone series .)

The Bose QuietControl 30 is well-built, very comfortable to wear, offers variable noise-canceling and excellent sound quality for a Bluetooth headphone. It's also sweat-resistant and can be used as a sports headphone. Works well as a headset.

Pricey. Noise-canceling isn't as effective as QuietComfort 20 or QuietComfort 35. No wired option to plug into airline entertainment systems.

So long as you don't expect the most powerful noise-canceling, the QuietControl 30 works really well as an everyday headphone. You can use it at the gym or for running.

Bose QuietControl 30

The Bose QuietControl 30 earphones combine Bluetooth connectivity and effective ambient mics with industry-leading noise cancellation technology.

Unbeatable noise cancellation. Wireless connectivity. Solid audio performance with rich bass and crisp highs. Ambient mics allow you to monitor your surroundings.

Neckband design is not for everyone. Expensive.

Conclusions From an audio standpoint, you can describe the Bose QuietControl 30 as exciting and vibrant—it's just not going to be used for reference or critical listening scenarios. From a noise cancellation standpoint, it's at the top of the heap,...

Bose's QuietControl 30 is the ultimate neckband-style Bluetooth headphone (hands-on)

You've probably seen plenty of people wearing neckband-style wireless headphones, which LG pioneered with its top-selling Tone series. But think of Bose's upcoming QuietControl 30, which ships this September, as the ultimate neckband-style Bluetooth...

Bose QuietControl 30 review

  (Punteggio Nascosto)

The Bose QuietControl 30 headphones feature wireless Bluetooth connection and noise cancelling, which is rather unusual for an in-ear pair. They're designed to block out all background noise when you want to, but also to be able to let it in when you...

Bose Quiet Control 30
