Blu R1 HD

The Blu R1 HD is an unlocked Android phone with a good balance of performance for the $50 price, making it a fantastic value for Amazon Prime users and regular customers alike.

Inexpensive. Sturdy build. Solid battery life. Latest Android software. Dual SIM card slots and expandable storage.

Prime-subsidized phone includes Amazon bloatware and advertising. Lackluster camera.

Conclusions When I reviewed the $150 Blu Life One X, our previous Editors' Choice, it was hard to imagine a phone undercutting it without making huge sacrifices to build quality and performance. With the R1, Blu has managed to do just that. For the...

Blu and Amazon have redefined the budget smartphone

I recently read a book called The Inevitable by Kevin Kelly. There are a bunch of chapters in it. One of the chapters was about how in the future we won't really own much of anything, but we'll...

Inexpensive ; Understated design ; Fast enough for Pokémon Go

Bad cameras ; Lousy reception ; Ads in your face

BLU R1 HD review

What does a $50-$100 smartphone offer? Let's find out in a closer look at the latest affordable offering from BLU, in this in-depth BLU R1 HD review!

Below average camera experience ; Lockscreen ads with Amazon Prime exclusive version

BLU gets a lot right with the R1 HD, with its solid design and build quality, decent performance, and clean software experience. While the camera suffers and the lockscreen ads (with the Prime exclusive version) can be annoying, its unbeatable price...

Blu R1 HD Review: Great for $50, with a Catch

The Blu R1 HD ($49 with Amazon Prime, $99 without) is certainly affordable, but that doesn't necessarily make it a bargain. The phone's design, display and battery life are satisfactory for a low-cost device, but its weak camera and inability to run...

Superaffordable ; Sleek design ; Bright display ; Good battery life

Amazon ads are annoying ; Blurry camera ; Has trouble with graphic-intensive apps

The Blu R1 HD gives you a lot for just $50, including a bright 5-inch screen, sleek design and long-lasting battery, but this Amazon Prime special shows lots of ads.
